Tell us about yourself. What is your professional qualification?
I am a graduate mechanical engineer with experience as a service engineer specializing in installing and maintaining power backup generators.
I have vast experience in engineering supplies, apparel engineering, and the manufacturing industry.
How long have you been looking for a job?
I had been looking for a job for almost a year. Because of the many professionals who were competing for the few available opportunities, the journey was not easy; thus, there was a need to develop a unique niche to stand out.
What has your job search experience been like?
The job search process was very daunting. I experienced multiple rejections, but I was resilient and persisted in the journey to ensure that I achieved my career goals.
Are there any specific challenges you encountered in your job search process?
One of the challenges was that most companies were going through tough times, and most were not hiring by that time, and that narrowed down the chance to step out of unemployment.

At first, I was skeptical because I was certain that I was competing against many other applicants, but after being called for consecutive interviews, I knew I had the potential so I prepared myself well to ensure that I aced the interviews.

Even though having a well-written CV is a great way to start, demonstrating your enthusiasm for the role and connecting with the needs of the employers goes a long way in positioning you for success.

Never give up! This may sound like a cliché, but keep pushing even despite the rejections. At the right time, your dream job opportunity will present itself.

It is important to stay relevant in the job market. Structure your CV well, develop the necessary skills, and present yourself as a strong candidate during the interview.
If you were to speak to any professional out there, what is one thing you would tell them to do to succeed in 2023?
Position yourself as a solution to the employers’ problems or the challenges that are faced in the industry. Move out of your comfort zone to help you achieve growth because when you are in an uncomfortable situation, you will be challenged to take action to provide solutions.
